Basic Safety Rules for the Use of Grinding Wheels and Bonded Abrasives DO: * Read the Safety documents published by relevant bodies: FEPA Safety code, Health and Safety authorities. * Carefully inspect the products when received for defects: damaged packages, cracks. * Handle with care and store in an appropriate place. * Select he product suited to the application. * Inspect the product before mounting on the machine: visual inspection and ring test when applicable. * Make sure the product is adapted to the machine: dimensions * maximum rotational frequency: * machine max. RPM shall never exceed max. RPM marked on the wheel. * Carefully mount on the machine following machine builder instructions and wheel marking. * Install and close all safety devices: guards, screens etc. * Start the machine and run it idle for at least 30 seconds, with all personnel away, every time a new or used wheel is mounted. * Operate the machine according to machine and wheel instructions. DON'T : * Run a wheel at a rotational frequency higher that the maximum RPM marked on the wheel or its label. * Force the wheel on the mounting device: machine shaft, flange spigot etc. * Modify, enlarge, wheel bore. * Grind on the side of a wheel which is not designed for this operation. * Abuse a wheel with too much grinding pressure, shocks etc.
