    Choose the right flap disc:

    flap disc shape

Flat: The best choice for welding seams, mainly used for flat grinding. Angled: best choice for large cutting volume, used for contour and edge grinding.

    1.Application and grit number:

Durable heavy-grinding design makes the flap disc long life. Mainly used for rough grinding, deburring, and grinding of wood, high carbon steel and stainless steel. It is widely used in rough grinding and deburring of metal, high carbon steel and stainless steel. Grinding and polishing of alloy steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals.

    2. Correct application:

Flap discs are designed to work at an angle. The angle depends on what you make and what you are grinding, however, it is generally between 5-10 degrees on a flat / horizontal surface. If the angle is too flat, too many blade particles will immediately connect with the metal, causing the flap discs to wear faster. If the angle is too high, the blade cannot be used completely. This will cause a part of the flap discs to be excessively worn and insufficiently polished.

Tip: The method of adjusting the angle and judging whether the angle deviates is to check the wear pattern on the flap disc. Generally speaking, the wear pattern on the surface of the flap disc should be approximately twice the thickness of the flap disc.

    3. Pressure of flap disc:

Excessive use will cause the flap discs to overload and overheat, which will cause the flap discs to wear faster and reduce the effectiveness of the abrasive. If there is not enough pressure to use, the flap discs will not join the metal, which is not enough to effectively grind the surface, which will lead to longer grinding time and further wear.

Tip: Adjust the proper pressure of the flap discs. Too much or too little pressure will affect the grinding effect.
